Caching the blog

Posted in Blogging, Technicalon Feb 20, 2006

I installed the WP-Cache2 plugin today into my blogging software. This means that browsing my blog should be much faster. This means that you can drop by my blog homepage to see what is up in a lot less time. This means that you should be able to search and read articles much faster than before.

What I don’t know is if the cache for a page is updated when a new post is added to the page. I guess I’ll figure that out in a few moments when I publish this post.

It looks like the appropriate pages and categories are updated with new blog posts. This comment should test to see if the comment count on the post is updated as well.

Does WP-Cache2 work with Wordpress 2 for you? I tried it with my theme and it just seemed to fail nicely!

Converted all my SSL apps to Google App Engine. I didn't want to have to pay for my own SSL certificate any more, and App Engine allows for SSL sites with valid and recognized certificates (on their appspot.com domain) for free.
