It is a good thing that BYU played their football game last Thursday (and beat TCU!) because the scores just did not go my way today.
Portland State lost to their rivals, Montana. I think quarterback troubles were the cause there.
Utah lost to Boise State, which isn’t a surprise except for the fact that Utah couldn’t even get a touchdown. Normally I don’t wish Utah to win, except when they play out of conference teams because it makes our conference seem stronger. But only being able to post a single field goal didn’t represent the MWC well.
UNLV and San Diego State both lost their out of conference games, probably because they forgot to compete.
Wyoming verses Syracuse was at least an interesting team, but the Cowboys will end up without the W, which again doesn’t make the MWC look any more serious.
The only bright light was the fact that Colorado State did get a win over Fresno State.
I thought the conference was building up its reputation with Utah going to a BCS bowl a couple of years ago and TCU doing well. But no one this week is looking exceptional, which means that the MWC can’t consistently produce BCS worthy teams.
