I was looking through my live bookmarks on Firefox, which is simply the titles of RSS feeds (or in this case, the Atom feed), and I found something unusual.
Where I usually find the latest posts to the Official Google Blog I found instead a title that read:
Google, fix your blog pleeasssee! <3 (P.S. Just t…
That was all I could see. When I clicked on the live bookmark, I was taken to the following URL:
http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2006/03/google-fix-your-blog-pleeasssee-3-p.html
which turns out to give a “Not Found” error. Furthermore, the Offical Google Blog and its Atom feed also return 404 errors.
So what happened to the blog? Was it hacked?

There are a lot of great tools out there that work with blogger. Fewer tools work with Wordpress, although I like using Wordpress better. I wrote a script that maybe someday I’ll share that checks a blogger account for new posts, and if there are new posts, it then sends those posts to my Wordpress blog. This post was originally made on blogger, and should show up within an hour on my blog.

I found this article about how MSN is censoring the blogs that it hosts. I’m actually not too upset about it, since most users are probably pretty aware of whats happening and they can move to another hoster like blogger.com, or even have their stuff hosted here on peargrove.com. But there is something else that really bugs me. Its in the end user license agreement of using MSN blogs:
Unlike rival services such as Blogger, MSN Spaces forces new users to grant Microsoft permission to “use, copy, distribute, transmit, publicly display, publicly perform, reproduce, edit, modify, translate and reformat” their blog postings.
Wow, that is really horrible. What it is saying, is that if you use MSN Spaces, Microsoft owns your content. I don’t want Microsoft to own anything I create. I create it, and it is mine. Thats why my blog is hosted by me instead of by Microsoft, so I own my own content. I’m free.
Well, I think I have wordpress set up. I’m just not sure how to use all of its features. There are trackbacks and pingbacks and blogrolls and all sort of stuff which I’ve never heard of before.
I really want to get this working with stuff like blogger.com.
I’m really not sure what to put here. But I would like to keep on exploring it and see everything it will do. Thanks, I’ll be back later.
