Google Docs celebrates Valentines Day
by Jacob on Feb.14, 2008, under Funny
Google Docs is an online service that provides a word processor, spreadsheet application, and a slide show program. It is available as part of Google Apps, for a specific team, or directly from Google.
Today I visited Google Docs to upload a document with a sugar cookie recipe, and I found that they’ve gone pink for the day. I did’t know the Google Docs folks were so into Valentines Day, but it looks like they’ve got pleanty of love to share.

Leapord iCal Server to support Outlook?
by Jacob on Oct.16, 2007, under Technical
With the latest release of OS X Leapord being released soon, I thought I would take another look at some of the features of Leapord server. One of the things I’ve been anticipating is the new calendaring server. Apple says that the new server “works well with others,” but maybe not as well as they were first saying. It seems that Apple who was once touting Microsoft Outlook compatibility is now being quite hush about it. Consider this sentence from their old iCal Server features page:
iCal Server uses open calendaring protocols for intergrating with leading calendar programs, including iCal 3 in Leopard, Mozilla’s Sunbird, OSAF’s Chandler, and Microsoft Outook.
The same sentence recently changed to omit any reference to outlook:
iCal Server uses open calendaring protocols for intergrating with leading calendar programs, including iCal 3 in Leopard, and popular CalDAV clients from Mozilla, Open Source Application Foundation and others.
Suggestion for Google Talk Widget
by Jacob on Apr.18, 2007, under Technical
I noticed recently that Google has a web page widget for Google Talk. I have one major suggestion:
I manage an instance of Google Apps for Your Domain. It would be more than great if Google could work out an instance of the Talk Widget to work with a Google Apps domain. The widget could be either added to the customized Google Apps homepage, or it could even be added to another homepage for the domain.
