Update: I’m no longer associated with the Rex Lee Run. You’ll want to contact BYU’s Cancer Research Center if you would like current information.
So I’m the webmaster for the Rex Lee Run website. I have been for three years now. It is a fun job, because I can count all the people who visit the website, and I feel like I’m making a difference. This year has been the largest Rex Lee Run ever. Over 2000 people ran in this year’s race. That is a lot!
Because we use an outside timing source for measuring the race times, I don’t personally have access to any of the race results. Hopefully they will be posted on the site of the people who do the timing, RunnerCard.com . I don’t usually do any work on weekends, but I provided a link to runnercard.com from the Rex Lee Run website. Sometime Monday I guess I’ll copy or include better links to the actual results.

Today’s run was a lot harder than I thought it should have been. I’m not sure if it is because I’ve gotten fatter and had to carry more weight, or that I didn’t have enough energy, or that the air was thinner. I guess the best thing to do is to run again on monday.
I went on another run today. Hopefuly I can get another two runs in this week. I didn’t feel so tired during this run, although it still wasn’t easy. I’m working on just getting used to running. I did a 20 minute run this time, with 5 minutes of walking at both the beginning and end. I found out that it is about a 10 minute (slow) run over to Miriam’s house.

I went on another run today. It was of similar length to my other run I did on Monday, maybe just a little longer than last time. The first half was uphill and the second half was downhill.
It rained for the entire run. I guess one of the advantages of running in Oregon is that there is plenty of oxygen and plenty of rain.
The water in Oregon tastes good.
Today I ran my first mile in my marathon training. I walked for 7 minutes, ran for 15, and walked for another 7, so the whole thing took me about a half an hour. I guess a mile in 15 minutes doesn’t seem very good. I wasn’t going for speed, nor was I going for distance, I was going for time. My main goal was to get my muscles used to moving and my heart use to beating. Another couple weeks of easy running like this and I should be able to actually run for speed or distance (but the speeds or distances still probably won’t be impressive).
It felt good to run though. The oxygen in Oregon is nice. My favorite part of a run is the last one or two hundred feet where I sprint as fast as I can go until a certain point which I’ve picked out to be the end.
